ACCRA, March 22, (GJA) – THE Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has honoured the Managing Director of the National Investment Bank (NIB), Dr John Kweku Asamoah, in recognition of his immeasurable support to the GJA in particular and the Ghanaian media in general.

A delegation from the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mohammed Adjei Sowah, at his office in Accra. The visit was to officially invite the Accra Mayor to the 2018 World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) celebration to be hosted by Ghana. The WPFD will be celebrated on May 3 but a number of activities in connection with the event have lined up before and after the celebration date.

Following the conclusion of the work of the Election Dispute Adjudication Committee (EADC) relating to the GJA 2017 Elections, the Elections Committee has decided as follows; Re-opening of nominations for prospective candidates to contest National and Regional Executive positions -- Monday, 22nd May 2017

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is deeply alarmed by reports of threats against its members and other media practitioners, particularly in the Central, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions for exposing the destructive activities in the galamsey endemic areas.

According to these reports the galamseyers have vowed to “teach the journalists a lesson" if they refuse to halt their exposes on illegal mining.
