ACCRA, March 26, 2019, (GJA) – AFTER about two decades of waiting, Parliament Tuesday passed the Right to Information Bill (RTI) into law.
The Minister of Information, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, moved the motion for third reading and seconded by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central and Ranking Member on the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini.
ACCRA, March 18, 2019, (GJA) – THE Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has called on the police to arrest and prosecute the founder and leader of the Glorious Word and Power Ministries International, Isaac Owusu-Bempah, for alleged physical attack on some staff of Radio XYZ, an Accra-based private radio station.
The incident occurred last Friday, March 15, 2019, when Owusu-Bempah was reported to have stormed the premises of the radio station in the company of four other men in search of a presenter of the radio station.
ACCRA, March 13, 2019, (GJA) – THE Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has held discussions with two foreign media partners on areas of collaboration to promote media freedom in Ghana.
TheGJA and its partners – Open Society Foundations (OSF), based in London, and Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), are also exploring opportunities for the capacity-building of Ghanaian journalists to enhance the effective discharge of their watchdog mandate.

ACCRA, March 14, 2019, (GJA) – THE Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has condemned the alleged assault of three Ghanaian Times reporters by some police officers, describing it as barbaric.
In a statement signed by theGJA President, Affail Monney, and issued in Accra Thursday, March 14, 2019, the Association called on the Police administration to undertake swift investigations into the incident and punish the perpetrators of such crime.

ACCRA, August 2, 2018, (GJA) – THE Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has extended the deadline for submission of entries for its 23rd Media Awards Competition, from Friday, August 3, 2018 to Friday, August 17, 2018.
A press statement signed by the GJA General Secretary, Kofi Yeboah, said: “There will NOT be any further extension after the new deadline for the awards scheduled to take place in October 2018.”
It said entries for the competition, which is open to members working in the Ghanaian media, should cover works published/broadcast from January 1,2017 to December 31, 2017.
